Want to make a difference in the life of an adult learner? The Employment Skills Center is in need of dedicated volunteers to tutor adult students one-on-one in the areas of Basic Literacy, Math, and English as a Second Language. Tutoring is a wonderful way to share your knowledge and get involved in the community. We will match you with an adult student who is eager to learn!
The Employment Skills Center will be holding a Tutor Training on Saturday, September 21 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the ESC. Following this 6-hour classroom training, volunteers will also be required to complete 6 hours of independent online training. After completing all training, volunteers are asked to commit to 1.5 hours twice a week or 3 hours once a week. No prior experience is required, but volunteers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or currently be pursuing one in accordance with PA Department of Education guidelines. As a safety precaution, volunteers will also be subject to a criminal background check.
We would love to have you as a volunteer! To sign up for the training or to get more information, please contact Kate Brazel at 717-243-4060 x 4424 or kbrazel@EmploymentSkillsCenter.org
