Want to make a difference in the life of an adult learner? The Employment Skills Center is in need of dedicated volunteers to tutor adult students one-on-one in the areas of Basic Literacy, Math, GED Preparation, and English as a Second Language. Tutoring is a wonderful way to share your knowledge and get involved in the community. We will match you with an adult student who is eager to learn!
The Employment Skills Center will be holding a Tutor Training on Saturday, September 20th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the ESC. Lunch will be provided. Following this 6-hour classroom training, volunteers will also be required to complete 6 hours of independent online training. After completing all training, volunteers are asked to commit to 1.5 hours twice a week or 3 hours once a week. No prior experience is required, but volunteers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or currently be pursuing one in accordance with PA Department of Education guidelines. As a safety precaution, volunteers will also be subject to a criminal background check.
We would love to have you as a volunteer! Many volunteers tell us the work is far more rewarding than they ever imagined. To sign up for the training or to get more information, please contact Shelly Brown at 717-243-6040 x 4424 or email@example.com

On July 30, the Employment Skills Center held an Adult Education Recognition and Awards Celebration to honor students for their dedication and perseverance in our adult basic education programs. Thirteen students who demonstrate dependable attendance, a cooperative attitude, and a strong work ethic were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society. Instructors Dotty Brlansky, Katie McFarland, and Tammy Doban introduced each student and shared their accomplishments with fellow students, staff, family, and friends. The ceremony was followed by refreshments and plenty of hugs. Congratulations to all our students―we are proud of each and every one of you. View the slideshow below:
