Barnes & Noble Bookfair!

Join us at the Buck a Book Bookfair at the Camp Hill Barnes & Noble on Saturday, February 7. There will be face painting and crafts, the Carlisle High School football team and cheerleaders will be reading stories, children’s author and illustrator Matt Novak will be signing books, Carlisle High School students will perform, and Buck a Book Kids will be reading their newly published Adventures of Wordy Worm stories! A portion of all purchases made during the fair will go to support the Employment Skills Center! Bring your friends and family, and your school will get points for everyone who comes with you. The school with the highest turnout and the most points will win 100 books from Buck a Book!

 

Schedule of Events:

9:00-11:00 am—Face Painting and Crafts

9:15-10:00 am—Students reading Wordy Worm stories

10:00-10:30 am—Matt Novak, children’s author and illustrator

11:00 am-1:00 pm—Storytime with the CHS Football Team and Coach Oswalt

11:45 am-12:00 pm—CHS Cheerleaders leading reading cheers

12:00-1:00 pm—Storytime with CHS Cheerleaders

12:00-2:00 pm—Face Painting and Crafts

1:30-3:00 pm—Students reading Wordy Worm stories

3:00-4:00 pm—CHS Shakespeare Troupe

4:00-5:00 pm—Deborah Sweaney book signing and genealogy research tips

6:00-7:00 pm—CASD Elementary Combined Choir

Get Your GED!

It’s a new year and the perfect time to think about getting your GED!

Starting in late January, we are offering both daytime and evening GED classes. Our daytime program will be held at the Employment Skills Center, 29 South Hanover St. in Carlisle. Our evening program will be held at Carlisle High School, 623 West Penn St. Choose the program that suits your schedule and plan to attend a two-part Information and Orientation Session:

Buck a Book Kicks Off January 12th!

Hey Kids and Parents! Come to the Buck a Book Kickoff on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Carlisle High School Swartz Building! It is going to be a great night with crafts, entertainment, food for purchase, and FREE BOOKS for everyone!

          5:00 to 6:00 pm Literacy Fair in the Swartz Cafeteria

          6:00 to 6:30 Kickoff and Pep Rally in the Swartz Auditorium

          6:30 to 7:30 Literacy Fair continues

Featuring:

          Our faithful emcee, Skye Scraper, on stilts!

The Buck a Book Literacy Campaign raises funds for adult literacy programs while inspiring K-5 students in the Carlisle Area School District to read and get involved in the community.
